Samsung Wave 723 is the fourth phone that will carry its own open mobile OS bada. After the pilot Samsung Wave, the company did two low-end handsets with the bada OS - the Wave 2, and the Wave 2 Pro with a QWERTY keyboard. Both phones carried a 3.2" LCD screen, and a 3MP camera. The new Wave 723 steps things up from those with an LCD screen of the same 3.2" size, but a back cover made of metal, Wi-Fi, and a 5MP camera with LED flash. An interesting design take is the screen cover which is made of leather, and is attached to the bottom of the phone.

iPhone OS 3.0 unlock
Apple has just released iPhone OS 3.0 (also iPod Touch 3.0). The biggest problem a number of you who have jailbroken or unlocked iPhones will soon be pondering about will be whether or not to click that update button. If that’s you, so far, we do not recommend you do that. However, having said that, first generation iPhone users are relatively safe given that you don’t mind having a locked iPhone for just a few days. For iPhone 3G users, from what we’ve read so far we would recommend you hold on abit.
The reason for the above is because the iPhone Dev Team has updated and said that their tools for jailbreaking (such as Pwnage Tool and QuickPwn) and unlocking will be out by the end of this week at the latest. The best news is that yellowsn0w which is the Dev Team’s ultimate tool for unlocking the iPhone 3G (and 3G S to come) for use on other carrier networks has been updated and now called, ultrasn0w.
In the video below, you’ll see how the new and improved ultrasn0w will work, its as simple and just as quick as the old yellowsn0w. Ultrasn0w will be the iPhone OS 3.0’s first unlock tool and will work with any bootloader version! We have heard many of you tell us about your bootloader problems, since newer bootloader versions prevent downgrade of the iPhone’s baseband which is required in order to use the previous yellowsn0w. This is absolutely brilliant news, check out the video below, skip directly to 2:00 for the action.

iPad vs MacBook: Is the Tablet Eating Its Own Brethren?
The iPad has had tremendous success, just like everyone thought it would, and the mobile device is already a threat for the netbook business, but also to the laptop business, PC and Mac included.
Yes, you heard me right, folks, it looks like the iPad is eating through its own also. According to a recent report not only PC sales have been affected by the introduction of the tablet but Mac sales too. Going back in time we’ll replay that last Apple quarterly earnings report in which Apple’s officials were touting how iPad Mac cannibalization is not a serious threat. And if that happens, then lots of PCs will also die in the process. Even Steve Ballmer is aware of that.
But is Apple willing to lose a fair share of MacBook (and other Mac models) customers? The first response you’ll be willing to give me is probably no, since the most expensive iPad is cheaper than the cheapest MacBook notebook. I’d say that’s an accurate argument but you are forgetting that the iPad, on its own, is a device you don’t need. Add some apps, eBooks, videos and music and the tablet comes to life. But guess what, all that content, coming from Apple, is not free of charge, and, over time, Apple will make a lot more money on you than what you initially paid for the tablet.
We’re considering MacBooks here for the sake of the comparison as the obvious iPad alternative since they’re both mobile devices. But today’s report says that the iPad is cannibalizing on Mac sales, meaning Apple desktops too.
The iPad vs Mac report comes from Morgan Stanley’s Katy Huberty and she is saying that PC sales dropped to 3% year over year for July compared to 6% in June and 8% in May and the iPad can be blamed for that. Sales for business went up 39% year over year, which kept PC at a steady 11%.
Looking at Mac sales for July she wrote that sales are up 14% year over year, better than June at 11% but down when compared with the previous three-month average, which is at 25%.
So that’s probably why Apple is thinking a 7-inch tablet is a good idea, and as a smaller netbook-like computer could do even more damage. Have you purchased an iPad instead of a Mac or PC?

Vimeo Joins HTML5 with Hybrid Flash-HTML5 Video Viewer
Video hosting site Vimeo is the latest to join the HTML5 craze, launching a new web player that can automatically detect the hardware of the end user and play videos either in Adobe Flash or HTML5 format. The service will take account hardware requirements, browser, and the connection speed. HTML5's advantage is that it will make Vimeo's content more accessible to mobile devices, such as those that don't support Adobe's Flash plug-in, such as Apple's iPhone and iPad.
According to Vimeo, the embed codes are the same in the Flash version or HTML5 version. The browser and bandwidth will determine which version--HTML5 or Flash--gets loaded.
Also new to the service is a "Watch Later" option that will allow users to bookmark videos for later viewing.

Chrome Web Store Arriving In October With Chrome OS Devices?
Many folks out there are looking forward to getting hold of devices that will be powered by Google's Chrome OS, and now word is going around that Google's Chrome Web Store might be launched this October, which would probably mean that Chrome OS devices should be showing up around that period too. It was previously stated that Chrome OS netbooks would be available in late fall, but with the whispers of Chrome Web Store's October launch, at least we have a more specific period to look forward too. Apparently Google is only planning to charge developers a 5 percent processing fee for apps, which is rather different from the usual practice where the store operator gets something along the lines of 30 percent cut of the revenue of application sales.
