Twitter preps to move URL shortening to everyone

There just isn’t a way to shorten URLs automatically through Twitter, at least when using the main site. So the company plans to fix this, according to Sean Garrett, vice president of communications at Twitter, who announced Thursday that service will push URL shortening to everyone. Since March, Twitter has used twt.tl to shorten URLs send via direct messages on the site, while at the same time using the shortening service to flag malicious domains and alert users to potential risks.
